Choosing a residential care home

Are you or your loved one in the process of choosing a residential care home? Moving from your existing home into residential care is a big transition, undoubtedly with many things to consider. We are here to remove some of the uncertainty and provide helpful information so that the decision-making process is less overwhelming. Read on to discover what you should look for in residential care in Chadwell Heath, Romford so that you feel welcomed, safe and cared for in your new home.

Qualified and compassionate staff

It’s important to find a care home with a well-led staff who will provide quality care and service. As a family-run home, we’ve created an environment where carers and residents alike feel valued and welcomed. The longevity of our staff speaks to this – some employees have been with us for nearly 25 years! It’s important to us that our residents feel comfortable and safe seeing friendly and familiar faces. That’s why we don’t use any agency or temporary staff. All of our carers are fully trained and committed to delivering only the best care.

A place of care and comfort

Residential care should mean you feel cared for, safe and comfortable at all times. We pride ourselves on creating a cosy home away from home, complete with all the homely touches. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms and bring in cherished possessions. While we provide plenty of opportunities for socialising thanks to our dedicated activities and events coordinator, we also understand the value of privacy. That’s why our residents are free to dine in the privacy of their rooms with visiting family or friends.

Speaking of meals, you can expect high-quality food that caters to specialised diets if needed. Our team of professional cooks ensure there is always a choice of good home-cooked food with fresh seasonal offerings throughout the year. They even take individual requests for tea-time meals.

Lastly, we offer plenty of facilities such as laundry and cleaning services, as well as a barber and hairdressing salon. Residents are always welcome to spend time in our beautifully landscaped gardens or join us on regular outings to the seaside, pub, theatre and more.

Responsive to meeting your needs

Your safety, health and wellbeing should be the number one priority. We take care planning seriously and work with our residents, family members and healthcare professionals to ensure each individual has a personalised care plan that specifically caters to their needs. If needed, our regular district nurses are available to offer extra support. We are more than happy to arrange extra services such as chiropody, physiotherapy and visiting support services such as GP, dentist and optician. With palliative care, dementia care, respite care, day care and convalescence care, we are committed to meeting your needs – no matter how complex.

Safe and qualified

Your residential care home should comply with care sector standards and meet the quality of care demanded. We pride ourselves on having provided quality care, support and assistance for the past 40 years. As an award-winning care home, we were finalists at the Care Home Awards in various categories including Best Garden, Best Staff Retention and Best Care Home for three years running. We were also a finalist in the Best Family Business Awards in 2021. At Rowallan House, you can rest assured you are in safe and qualified hands.
